CMS Guidance for M0090 from 12.27.19 through 12.31.19
CMS rule regarding the 5-day window at the end of 2019: When completing a recert visit in 2019 for a 485 that begins on 01/01/20 or later, the new OASIS D-1 assessments must be used AND question M0090 – Date Assessment Completed must be dated as 01/01/20. OASIS D-1 assessments are not effective until 2020 but CMS has given agencies permission to use them early (from 12/27 – 12/31) as long as the M0090 date is in 2020 AND the 485 begins in 2020. After locking these 2019 recert visits with 2020 OASIS D-1 assessments, don’t export them to CMS until 01/01/20 or later! If HCS sends the export file for your agency, please coordinate with HCS Support as needed to delay sending these recert assessments.
If the 485 begins in 2019, continue using the OASIS D assessments on the recert visit. If you have any questions, contact HCS Support.
